Garlic Bread

This garlic bread is incredibly buttery, cheesy, and garlicky, plus quite easy to make! It's the perfect accompaniment to any main course especially a big bowl of pasta!

What do you do with leftover bread that has been lying in the cupboard for a while, leaving you with an abundance of tasty carbs?

Making garlic cheese bread is a good option.

Garlic bread is my favorite side dish. Inexpensive, quick to make, and versatile—it goes with practically everything.

Garlic bread is usually an excellent choice, especially topped with cheese. The cheese topping plays a big part in why this might be the best garlic bread I've ever made, made with a perfect ratio of butter, garlic, and cheese.

The reason French bread is my preference is because its crumb is more uniform and there are fewer holes in it, spreading the butter mixture over a flatter surface will make the golden brown topping on your garlic bread more even.

French bread is lighter and fluffier than other breads, which surprised me. I prefer dense, crunchy, chewy bread.

Serving Suggestions

This garlic bread is delectable on its own. Here are some of our preferred dishes to pair it with:

Storage Suggestions

  • Refrigerator: Before placing the bread in the refrigerator, make sure it has completely cooled and wrap it tightly in plastic wrap. In the refrigerator, it can keep fresh for up to three days.
  • Freezer: It's better to freeze the bread before baking it. Put everything together with the garlic spread, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and freeze for up to three months. After baking, you can freeze it for up to two months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before heating.
  • Reheating: Reheat it in the oven at 350 F for 10 to 15 minutes, or until it's warm and crispy again.

Tips

  • Keep an eye on your oven. Every oven is different, and bread burns quickly.
  • Give the bread a few minutes to cool down. This will allow things to settle and make slicing easier.
  • Feel free to use whatever bread you want here. Ciabatta, french bread, and Italian bread are all excellent options.
  • Use unsalted butter instead of salted butter. Add a small amount of salt only, if you don't have any butter. You can use olive oil, but the bread won't be as creamy and rich.
  • For a tastier roasted flavor, use roasted garlic instead of fresh garlic.
  • Add more garlic if you’re a garlic lover. Add 2-4 cloves of garlic to the mixture. It will give the bread garlic taste and texture.

Variations

  • Herb: Add your preferred dried or fresh herbs, or Italian seasoning, into the butter spread mixture.
  • Pesto: Use a tablespoon of pesto sauce mixed into the garlic butter.
  • Spicy: For a spicy garlic bread that goes well with Alfredo pasta, mix a little crushed red pepper into the butter.
